The parish of St. Paul congratulates you on your engagement and extends its support to you as you prepare to celebrate the sacrament of matrimony. You’re now making plans for your wedding. As you do so, it’s important the “Wedding Ceremony” or “Wedding Mass” —be an experience of faith and prayer for all who come to celebrate with you.
Getting Started
Marriage arrangements are made in consultation with one of the parish priests. He will guide you as you prepare for the sacrament of matrimony, as well as assist you in planning the wedding liturgy; your choice of vows, prayers, scripture readings, the giving and receiving of rings, and the nuptial blessing are all an expression of your faith in God and in each other.
Scheduling
Marriages may be celebrated on Saturdays at 1 pm and 3 pm. Weddings on other days may be scheduled in consultation with the priest.
Nuptial Masses are not celebrated at St. Paul Church on Sunday, unless there is a priest friend or relative saying the Mass.
Pre-Cana
Information on these pre-marital instructions will be given to you by the parish priest. One of the following pre-marital Life Skills courses is required. You may choose to attend: · Engaged Encounter · Pre-Cana Programs
In addition, couples must attend the sacramental preparation program "God's Plan for a Joy Filled Marriage" and a Natural Family Planning seminar. For information on these required courses, please visit the Archdiocese of Newark's website at http://www.rcan.org/famlife/marriagefamily.htm
Please contact the Parish Center to begin preparations for your wedding day.
